What’s Your Shape?

Finding something to wear is hard enough and can get down right frustrating at times. Hopefully this post can be of some help. First, you have to identify your shape. Next, you have to figure out what style works for that shape. The Style Guide I’ve come up with can help put an end to the guessing games and allow you to get the most out of your next shopping trip.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hourglass/Figure Eight (Larger Hourglass): Your shoulders and hips are about the same size and your waist is significantly defined. Anything that defines your waistline will be most flattering such as a wrap dress, trousers with a thick waist band, a wide belt around a shirt or tunic. This dress HERE by Melissa McCarty is perfect for your curvy curves!
Rectangular (Banana): Your bust, waistline, and hips are about the same size. I know most women would love to be born with the hourglass figure, but for those of us that missed the memo when it was being handed out, here are some great ways to create that curvy look. Wear things that are ruffly like peplum skirts, ruffled/pleated skirts with a thick defined waist band with a fitted top, empire waist dresses, tunic with skinny jeans.  Options HERE , HERE and HERE.
Triangle (Pear): Your hips are larger than your waist and bust. The waistline is very defined. You gain weight to your bottom and legs first followed by your tummy and upper body. To emphasize a bigger bust area, wear ruffled tops, wrap tops, dramatic prints on the upper body with darker colors on the bottom and you may also want to try some padded bras.  Options HERE  HERE and HERE.
Oval (Apple): Your chest and waist are about the same size. Your hips are narrow and legs are slender with a somewhat flat buttocks. You first gain weight in your midsection followed by the upper body. Wide leg pants will help balance your shape, empire waist dresses will help to accentuate your bust line while hiding the tummy area.  Options HERE, and HERE.
Inverted Triangle: You have a very large bust area and broad shoulders with a smaller waist and hips. Your legs are shapely so you can play around with different skirt lengths. It’s best to balance out your shape by accentuating your lower half with volume and color. Try to stay with neutral or dark colors on the top area if you want to minimize the size of your bust. Options HEREHERE and HERE.
~Hope this helped. See you all on the next post.
